BS/MS PROGRAM IN COMPUTER SCIENCE Essays - Graduate School BS/MS PROGRAM IN COMPUTER SCIENCE Application to the Program General Information The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) of the University at Buffalo offers a program leading to the simultaneous conferral of a BS and MS degrees in Computer Science (CS). This program has several advantages over separately earning the BS (CS) degree then the MS (CS), 134 credit hours compared to 150 credit hours Opportunity to compete for graduate financial assistance before BS conferral Guaranteed admission to the Graduate School for students making satisfactory progress in the program. Students applying to the BS/MS Program in Computer Science can complete the combined program in five years. For the purposes of financial aid and tuition, students are considered graduate students in the beginning of their seventh semester of the program (the semester in which the student carries more graduate credits than UG credits). Students may apply after completing At least 56 credits A minimum GPA of 3.3 among all required CSE, MTH, and EAS courses. It is recommended that candidates complete CSE115, CSE116, CSE191, CSE241, CSE250, *MTH141, *MTH142, and a calculus-based probability or statistics course prior to applying. Transfer students must complete at least one semester at the university before applying to this program. Applications must be accompanied By two letters of recommendation from our CSE faculty and emailed/given to Donna Grant, CSE Undergraduate Advisor in 338R Davis Along with a current copy of your advising report. Applications are reviewed by the Director of Undergraduate Studies and Director Graduate Admissions. Applicants will be notified via email of the determination. *Unless exempted by an SAT score, Advanced Placement credits, or transfer credits.
